Psychopathologie des troubles de la personnalité

The psychopathology of personality disorders — taught in French at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.

About the Course

One of four languages Dr. Piccolo works in.

Taught in French in the Department of Psychology at the University of Fribourg, the course examined the psychopathology of personality disorders through the lens of Beck’s cognitive theory — how innate predispositions and environmental influence shape the cognitive, affective, and behavioral patterns that distinguish the disorders, with personality understood across phylogeny and ontogeny as strategies that were once adaptive.

Course materials moved from theory to the clinic: disorders including borderline and narcissistic personality disorder, assessment tools such as the Personality Beliefs Questionnaire and the Young Schema Questionnaire, and treatment approaches from cognitive therapy to schema-focused therapy, including case studies of treating psychopathy.

Assessment

Group work and a final exam.
